






Victorian Maple & Co Westminster chiming longcase clock.
A 19th century pale oak cased three train 8 day longcase clock, striking and Westminster chiming on five gongs. Made by the renowned furniture makers Maple & Co of London.
The 13" wide brass arch dial has a chime/silent lever in the arch to turn off the chime, four intricately cast spandrels, a silvered chapter ring and silvered seconds chapter ring, three winding holes for time, strike and chime and a good set of blued steel hands and lever. The Oak arch dial case work has a hood with swan neck pediment and brass roundels over a pair of fluted stop-brass pillars either side an opening glazed door with brass escutcheon and working lock and key. The trunk has a pair of quarter fluted pilasters with brass capitals and bases either side a wavy top door with rococo brass escutcheon and working lock and key. The base has a raised moulded panel and the whole stands well on a shaped bracket plinth.
